Torwitanssiaiset 10.2.2012: Tanssiaiset kuin silloin ennen

Sohon Torwet on Turun yliopiston ainoa ja monien mielestä myös paras opiskelijapuhallinorkesteri. Sohon Torwet on soittanut monipuolista tanssimusiikkia hyvässä hengessä jo 60 vuoden ajan ja saanut aina yleisössä tanssijalan vipattamaan.

Pyrkiväntalon (Tuureporinkatu 2) tanssilattia on teidän perjantaina 10.2.2012 kello 18.30 alkaen. Paikalle voi saapua myös rennosti vaikka kuuntelemaan laadukasta soittoa ja seurustelemaan muiden osallistujien kanssa. Salin seinustalla on penkkejä väsyneille, ja kahvio palvelee nälkäisiä sekä janoisia koko illan ajan. Liput 10/7€ ovelta tai ennakkoon Sohon Torwilta.

Luvassa on Torwiin tutustumisen lisäksi myös mahdollisuus saada lisätietoa Turussa ja sen alueella toimivien tanssiseurojen Sekahaun, Flying Stepsin ja Turku Swing Societyn toiminnasta. Illan teema on orkesterin alkuajat, joten halutessaan saa pukeutua 50-luvun tyyliin, vaikka pukukoodia ei olekaan.

Orkesteri soittaa kaikenlaista tanssimusiikkia perinteisistä lavatansseista swingin ja rockin kautta jopa poppiin, joten jokaiselle löytyy jotain sopivaa. Tervetuloa nauttimaan illasta kaikki turkulaiset, suomalaiset, ulkomaiset, työssäkäyvät, työttömät, eläkeläiset ja opiskelevat ystävämme!

Live the fifties and come dance at the The Great February Ball – brought to you by the university orchestra Sohon Torwet!

Sohon Torwet is the only (and according to many, even the best) orchestra from the University of Turku. When it was founded in 1951, the orchestra had only seven players – today we have about fifty. The orchestra has always been proud to provide a chance for young musicians to improve their skills and to continue their beloved musical hobbies, and for sixty years, we have entertained audiences with a wide and diverse selection of dance music. Now, as we arrange this great ball of our own, we would like nothing more than for you to join us in the celebration – to have fun with us by dancing in good company.

The doors of Pyrkivän urheilutalo (Tuureporinkatu 2, Turku) open on the 10th of February around 6.30 pm. Tickets are available at the door for 10€ (7€ with concession), but you can also purchase them beforehand from Sohon Torwet (see contact information below). So, come enjoy yourself and ask your friends to come with you – this is a great way to spend an evening, and everyone is welcome!

A cafe will be open to serve the hungry and thirsty during the evening, and as an added bonus, dance hobbyists from various local organizations will be present to share information about their activities. There is no dress code, but if you would like to honor the history of our orchestra, we suggest dressing up like they did back in the golden 50′s.
