Fall weather
and 80’s cruise
I hope that the first days in
Turku have gone well for all of you newcomers and you are settled in you new
homes. ESN help desk will be at your service on Wed. 18.9, 11-12 in front of
the Student Services in the Main building. ESN people will give you
information about what is going on, don’t hesitate to go and talk to them!
Some of you may be nervous about getting adjusted to the local climate. By
now you have probably heard that we have had an exceptionally warm (or as a
Finn I can say hot) Summer. It has been amazing but sometimes a little bit
frustrating as well ... TOO HOT!!! It’s impossible to say what next Winter
will be like; if this Summer means that the Winter will be mild or that the
Winter will be extreme. But one thing is for sure: Finns are hardly ever
happy with the weather: it’s always too cold or hot or rainy… Now you
have the chance to experience what ever comes along!

you remember when Miami Vice was the coolest thing and Madonna was just
starting out her career? The Student Union’s Jubilee year takes us to the
1980’s in October. This decade will be celebrated on a cruise with
special program for students. The 80’s cruise will take place 24. -25.10
on Silja Europa cruise ship. There will be a live band Heavenly Groove that will
play cover songs from the 80’s. The
next day you can enjoy the scenery of Finnish archipelago or continue
the celebration if you have some energy left. Recommended dress code is
anything in 80’s style. Be creative: the best outfit will be rewarded.
Tickets for this one of a kind cruise cost 20 euro per person. The cabins
are for four persons, so gather a nice group and get ready to party! To buy
